Having begun the journey in July 2012 with our first preview performance at Bristol Old Vic Ferment, we went on to win Arts Council funding and further support from Bristol Old Vic. A month at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, a Critic’s Choice Award, Pick of the Fringe, and two UK tours later, our final performance of ‘Ablutions’ is due next week at London’s New Diorama Theatre as part of their Incoming Festival. We hope our barman and all his rousing clientele will tug at the heartstrings of our audience one last time.

Picture yourself as a bartender, sipping top-shelf whiskey and watching your customers descend into nightly oblivion. Your heart is broken by the world around you and, leaving the whiskey aside, you hatch a devious, unthinkable plan of escape…

A dark, modern drama, adapted from the novel by Man Booker-shortlisted author, Patrick deWitt. Ablutions is a grimly funny tale from the sodden depths of the Los Angeles underworld, Ablutions blends a live soundtrack with detailed mime and deWitt’s heart-wrenching humour.

Elegantly structured and consummately performed, this is a highly accomplished production
that reminds you why theatre is so bloody brilliant.”
