“Sometimes we need to do things like this, we need to step away from our daily lives, and look at them from a distance.”
Bristol Old Vic Ferment associate FellSwoop Theatre (Belleville Rendez-Vous, Ablutions) present the UK Premiere of Current Location. Written by Kishida Kunio Drama Award-winning playwright Toshiki Okada (Five Days in March, Super Premium Soft Double Vanilla Rich) and devised by a company of six actresses, this sci-fi tale is the company’s allegorical response to the recent ecological disasters.
FellSwoop Theatre’s previous show, Belleville Rendez-Vous (an adaptation of Sylvain Chomet’s animation film), won the NSDF Emerging Artists Award 2011 and was critically acclaimed nationwide on its sell-out tour. Their latest devised piece Ablutions, was selected as part of Bristol Old Vic Ferment and won the Ignite Critics’ Choice Award. Ablutions will be performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Assembly Roxy this summer. Current Location is directed by Bertrand Lesca, previous associate director of Peter Brook (A Magic Flute) and Declan Donellan (Ubu Roi).
